I have experience of understanding & then implementing compliant ways of engaging contractors in the UK, whether through PAYE, Umbrella or Limited Company (PSC) engagement models, taking into account clients obligations under IR35 & AWR. I also have experience in a number of jurisdictions in the US, Canada, Australia & across many jurisdictions in Europe. My understanding & delivery of pragmatic solutions to ensure full compliance has been enhanced through direct engagement with HMRC & HM Treasury, in particular during their consultations with key industry stakeholders where I supported APSCo (Association of Professional Staffing Companies) in its representations on behalf of the professional recruitment industry.

Review of a client’s current understanding & business processes for producing (for example) IR35 Status Determination Statements (SDSs) or determining comparative pay under AWR;

Assess the strengths & weaknesses in these business processes and identify the opportunities for improvements;

Develop enhanced business processes & supporting documentation, delivering training to key stakeholders to ensure effective implementation;

Assist with IR35 status determinations & provide commentary on compliance issues that arise;

Conduct high level reviews of the contract engagement models used in other jurisdictions to assess their compliance, for example in regard to use of independent contractors or FLSA in the US.
